DEADLINE DILEMMA KITCHEN DESIGN ON A DEADLINE

Posted by: Denise McGaha

We often get calls toward the end of the school year with clients wanting to plan for designing a major project, like a kitchen remodel, in early Fall.  I love this type of thinking from my clients because it allows them to approach a large construction project with a calm and clear way of thinking and prepare for design challenges ahead of time.

I recommend two times of the year to approach a major remodel:  1) when you are planning a major trip or vacation that will take you away from home for at least two weeks OR...

2) When you have an important reason to entertain in your home and you want to have a new space to do so; i.e., wedding, graduation, major holiday, etc.

The key is to PLAN AHEAD.  Take that date you want to have the kitchen perfect, add 3 weeks to that and then start working backward to plan for the time you need to start.  Then, add another 8 weeks for designing the kitchen and ordering all the products needed for the remodel.  Wait on labor, not on product.

When we work with our clients who want a major remodel ready in early September, we will start designing in May.  I have several projects starting this month and I can guarantee that with the proper planning and a family vacation or two so the contractor can tear apart the old kitchen, that our clients will have a beautiful new kitchen to serve their family in the Fall.

Let me know if we can help you approach your kitchen remodel by Designing With a Deadline!  We would love to work with you!
