As I type this, I am flying to high Point, headed to the largest furniture market in the nation. The next six days will be filled with a running stream of visits to showrooms, drained camera batteries and being completely inspired by some of the most amazing furniture designs, art and antiques.
As the economy begins to loosen up a bit, I have noticed a new trend in the furniture industry. Much like fashion, I believe that the styles in furniture follow the financial markets. You know...shorter hems, brighter colors, etc. Many of the manufacturers I buy from are offering custom finishes and colors in amazingly short delivery times. Key words there in case you missed it...custom...short delivery times!!!

Hickory Chair has the ability to choose any number of their finishes, as well as any Benjamin-Moore paint finish for their case goods. This means I can choose any chest, chair or table from their line and personalize it with a great paint color and finish. I am considering a beautiful eggplant lacquer for this piece with brass hardware...what do you think?

And what about paainted finishes? Are you loving them as much as I am? It only helps me to have an amazing go-to table or chair and to customize it with different fabrics or finishes to make it personalized for each client and project.

I am all about what makes my job easier, makes my designs unique every time, and yes, ON A DEADLINE!
